Lead and manage small teams of 4-5 people to achieve workplace goals and tasks.
Monitor Engine Operations: Continuously monitor gauges, meters, and controls to ensure proper operation and efficient performance.
Operate Refuelling Equipment: Safely operate pumps, hoses, system alignment, and meters to deliver fuel to vessels, ensuring accurate and timely refuelling operations.
Conduct Routine Inspections: Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of propulsion systems, including engines, hydraulics, and controls, to ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and regulatory standards.
Emergency Response: Rapidly respond to emergency calls, whilst alongside and at sea, such as machinery breakdowns/fire and floods. Providing an assessment of the situation, conduct immediate response and communicate concisely under pressure.
Routine Maintenance Oversight: Schedule/oversee and conduct routine maintenance of ships systems such as diesel engines, plumbing, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal functioning and compliance with safety standards.
Fault Diagnosis: Use available diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues with Propulsion systems, including performance, electrical, and mechanical problems.
Developed skills to effectively lead and manage small teams to achieve workplace goals and tasks.
Operate and maintain ships equipment whilst under pressure and in a sea going environment.
Hands on management of fuel and other chemical spills, emergency response and containment whilst communicating effectively with engineering command and guiding the response team.
Experience responding to critical system breakdowns along with emergency fire and floods whilst at sea in a high-pressure environment.
Experience conducting shift work for extended periods of time whilst at sea conducting engineering watches.
Interpreting Blueprints and Design Plans: Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications.
