Driven by a strong foundation in international trade knowledge and a teamwork orientation, I excelled at Customs Insights/Uniserve, managing complex global shipments, including critical Covid equipment. My proactive approach and incoterms understanding led to significant client satisfaction and operational improvements, showcasing my ability to adapt and thrive in fast-paced environments.
This was a big step up from my previous job at international forwarding without my mothers help or assistance I found this job as soon as we were made redundant. The job skill was on another level compared to international forwarding where I would only be moving goods in and out of Europe.
This varied from containers or road freight across the whole world. Deep sea operations from China,Hong kong which require extra documentation than Europe does.
I have moved all sorts of goods across the world varying from critical Covid equipment which are exempt from Duty and taxes to alcohol in and on of bonded warehouses which require a vast amount of documentation to complete.
Four months into my stint at customs insights the company were hit with a dilemma where they had no other option to reduce staff as we lost our main customer Argos as they had closed all Irish stores which we dealt with for years previous.
The company had 6 people on shift and this had to be reduced to 3 meaning 12 staff had to be moved onto days 11am-8pm or leave the company.
This job was four on four off 2 Days followed by a 24 hour break then 2 nights 12 hour shifts.
I was not prepared to do 11-8pm as I had started this job to work shift work only.
I knew with my ability I would be able to find another job with the same hours so I refused to work this schedule.
To my surprise the company agreed and kept me on shift whilst loosing some colleagues that had been working at customs insights for over 3 years.
This was a massive boost for my confidence as the company had shown they wanted to keep me even though other colleagues had been there years before me.
This job ended due to me moving to Australia a few days ago, Terry the big boss was upset when I told him however he understood. Terry has welcomed me back as soon as I get back to the UK if I look for another job in the same industry.
Streamlined export processes by implementing efficient documentation and tracking systems
This was my first full time job Monday to Friday 9-5 my mum was the manager and hired me to help out as soon as I left college.
This was my first introduction into the export/import business which I have now left 1 month ago.
Unfortunately the whole office were made redundant by the main office which is located in Birmingham due to not making enough money to pay four people.
My mum then set up her own business in the same industry which she still does today, I also help her as and when I can.
My friend Ross got me this job once I had finished college. To start this was only season and weekend work, whilst I was still working at international forwarding limited.
I would drive the Gator loaded with feed and new bedding for the Chicken and Ducks. Seasonally the farm would make incubator kits for schools around the UK and we’re one of the biggest providers for hatching kits in the UK.
Giles and Kate the farm owner were always happy with my work as I would always give 100%, at the time lifting heavy object was definitely not my strength however I stuck with it and pushed threw and was always invited back to work as and when I was available. I done this to help with money as weekend work.
My first job after graduating college was with Disney cruise line. Disney cruise line had hired Saga to deal with the port side operations at Dover port. I was checking in passengers, checking Visa’s as well as passports to ensure all passengers were able to travel.
I also done bag handling finding customers bags with the customers with up to 3000 bags to go threw. I also done meet and greet and met the customers from the front of the building.
This was only seasonal work that I done for 2 years 2 months of the year (July and August).
This ended to due Disney cruise line no longer operating out of Dover port as port cost were far too high.
I work with my friend Sam Newell who owned his own bricklaying company at the time. I was ensure Mr Newell had enough cement to lay his bricks which ensured me of mucking it up and making sure it’s not too runny or solid to lay bricks with. This ended due to Mr Newell not having enough work for me also.
