General:
Below are some notable projects I have worked on during my time at Ashco Energy.
205 Anketell Street, Greenway - Punthill Appartments
Duration: 9 months
Project value: 1.2 million
Project type: Design and construct
Description:
I led the Electrical works for the construction of 76 hotel rooms, hotel lobby area as well as the upgrade of the electrical supply to the site. Using Cable Pro Web software, I took part in the design of the installation to meet the design and construct aspect of the project. I reviewed and approved switchboard shop drawings to ensure compliance, integration with the electrical design and compatibility with site constraints. Attended weekly meetings with foreman/project managers from other trades to coordinate and schedule upcoming works and discuss and resolve construction issues. I assisted in the review of the preliminary network advice submitted by Evo Energy for the upgrade of the site supply, meeting them on site to plan and coordinate the works and then successfully complete a site shut down and change over.
Southside Hydrotherapy Pool
Duration: 11 months
Project value: 1.1 million
Project type: Designed project
I Led the electrical works for the construction of a new creche and hydrotherapy pool building in Greenway, including the upgrade of the site transformer from 315Kva to 1500Kva. We took on all aspects of the upgrade including excavation for the new H-pad concrete plinth, trenching for electrical conduits and excavating a space for the MSB pit. During these works I had the opportunity to learn how to operate a 3.5 tonne excavator and made a large contribution to the in ground works. I managed the main switchboard changeover and coordinated the installation of temporary generators to maintain uninterrupted power to critical infrastructure during the MSB works.
The Eastbourne - East Traders
Duration: Current
Project value: $300,000
Project type: Design and construct
I managed the electrical design and tender package for a multi-stage commercial tenancy project, coordinating with builders, architects, and the client to deliver a solution within budget. Refined electrical layouts by selecting alternative light fittings, relocating switchboards for improved cable routing, and reducing unnecessary fittings and outlets. I am currently in the electrical design and certification stage, which includes lighting calculations, emergency and exit lighting design, and NCC compliance. The current scope covers base build lighting and power for general areas, with multiple hospitality tenancies planned in future stages.
General:
I spent 7 years with Phase 4, where I completed my electrical apprenticeship and gained extensive hands on experience. During this time, I worked across both residential and large commercial projects, developing strong technical knowledge and practical skills. I assisted with installations, maintenance, and fault-finding, ensuring compliance with standards and workplace safety requirements. Working alongside senior electricians allowed me to build confidence in interpreting drawings, planning tasks, and delivering quality outcomes. This experience gave me a solid foundation in the trade and prepared me to take on more advanced responsibilities as my career progressed.
Below is a key project where I held a major role.
6 Brindabella Circuit
Project value: 9 million
Duration: 18 months
I held a Leading Hand role on the construction of two, six level office buildings in the Airport Business District. I directed a 4 person team on one of the buildings to deliver a “warm shell” to each floor for future tenant fit-outs, including DALI lighting and a 120-meter continuous recessed LED corridor lighting system around the atrium. I oversaw the fit off of three site Main Switchboards, 5–6 meters long, with submains ranging from 10mm² to 400mm². I helped managed the installation and commissioning of the site backup generator, integrated with a UPS in the essential services MSB. Ensured all works were completed to project specifications, Australian standards, and safety requirements.
