With a solid foundation as a Marine Technician in the Royal Australian Navy, I have gained valuable experience in maintaining and operating naval vessels, including sea trials, machinery commissioning, and extended maintenance periods. Transitioning into a leadership role in the Marine Technical department after leaving the Navy, I continued to pursue my passion for the marine industry. Through further studies and multiple qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, I have developed expertise in main engine propulsion, auxiliary machinery, electrical power generation and sustainment, as well as computer maintenance management. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated technical knowledge of complex systems and a commitment to safety, with experience in diesel electric dynamic positioning systems and Failure Mode Equipment Analysis. Additionally, I possess a strong understanding of industry regulations such as MARPOL, ISM CODE, SOLAS, safety management systems, and Classification Societies. Effective communication is one of my strengths, evident in my report writing skills, professional email communication, and ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. As a team leader, I take pride in providing practical training and support to help my team members advance in their careers. Working autonomously is second nature to me, as I am known for my problem-solving abilities, diligence, delegation skills, and adherence to workplace safety and procedural policies. With my recent completion of a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering at the University of Tasmania, I am eager to be promoted to First Engineer on a sea-going vessel or secure a middle management position within the shore-based industry where I can apply my newly acquired skill set.
