Professional Highlights

  • Instructing Counsel at multiple appeals before the High Court of Australia and the Full Court of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in litigation concerning the Bankrupt Estate of Robert Frederick Jane, including giving affidavit evidence for consideration by the High Court of Australia and managing preparation for original trial before the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Working directly with Partners and King's Counsel on proceedings including: instructing at fast-tracked Olympic Non-Nomination and Non-Selection appeals on behalf of Gymnastics Australia and Judo Australia before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the lead-up to Tokyo 2020, both of which were successfully defended; instructing at two contemporaneous proceedings on behalf of large Australian construction company Carlisle Homes Pty Ltd, including an impending appeal before the Supreme Court of Victoria in relation to the setting aside of an expert determination, and an arbitration trial before David Levin KC; and preparing evidence for CAS appeal representing Kitty Chiller, former Chief Executive Officer of Gymnastics Australia and Chef de Mission of the Australian Olympic Team at Rio 2016.
  • Non-litigious highlights including: working on the acquisition of V8 Supercars Australia from signing to deal completion, including advising on complex ASIC regulatory issues; providing advice to ASX-listed entities including Cann Group; and assisting with the preparation of front-end contracts for sporting organisations including Racing Victoria and Melbourne United Basketball Club.
  • Demonstrating business development skills from a remarkably early stage, including bringing clients to Lander & Rogers and managing client relationships including through the Melbourne Forum and Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria.

Volunteer Experience

Refugee Legal, 02/2020, Present, After my clerkship, I was connected with Refugee Legal through my ‘buddy’, Joshua Butler. I was able to undertake their training program and an evening volunteering session before COVID-19 led to the clinic closing. I have since completed paralegal tasks remotely, including transcribing a client’s interview with DFAT.

Hobbies and Interests

  • From an academic standpoint, my main interests have been in taxation and investment law and the philosophy of mind, with philosophy being my Arts major. This follows my avid interest in reading novels from all eras. I also enjoy running, snow sports and playing football.
  • I am a member of the Melbourne Cricket Club and Australian Football League, often attending football and cricket matches with family and friends prior to the lockdown. I am also a member of the Victorian Racing Club and Alpine Club of Victoria.
  • I consider healthy interests outside of work as important to my engagement and motivation in the workplace.
