Working Environment
The expected hours of the role are based on a 24 hour rotating roster, including weekends, nights and public holidays.
Work collaboratively in a secure environment whilst acting as a safeguard to all Serco staff, stakeholders and persons in detention by maintaining security and stability within the Centre.
May require the use of control and restraint techniques and assisting in emergency situations as they arise.
May require travel.
Key Areas
Interacts, listens and responds attentively to detainees; reports any abuse or impropriety, health or general concerns in regard to detainees.
Rotates regularly between posts and cross-deployment throughout the Centre as required. Maintains the smooth running of assigned areas ensuring the safety, security and wellbeing of Serco staff, stakeholders and detainees.
Screens people, property and vehicles. Monitors CCTV systems, alarms and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Produces logs, reports, individual management plans and monthly case work;
Performs accurate security checks, headcounts and searches and complies with all reasonable and lawful instructions.

Operates Serco provided vehicles in a safe and professional manner observing all applicable state traffic laws. Eg: when conduction escort duties in line with Serco policy and Transport and Escort guidelines and operating externally to the Centre in a public environment with limited supervision; conducting perimeter checks etc.

Informs reporting lines and Centre/ General Manager promptly of any abuse, impropriety or misconduct matters that arise. Demonstrates acknowledgement of responsibility for ensuring any illegal, excluded and controlled items are detected, confiscated and retained, where appropriate.
Prepared to undertake a medical examination by a suitably qualified medical practitioner appointed by the company where there are reasonably and genuinely held concerns regarding fitness for work.
