  • During my apprenticeship at onboard engineering my main duties consisted of
  • Rebuilding engines, diagnosing engine issues, minor and major servicing, and all repair and warranty works on the following engine brands: Caterpillar, MAN, Volvo, Cummins, Mercury, Detroit and MTU.
  • General maintenance, diagnostics and minor and major servicing on Kohler and Onan Generators.
  • Servicing, general maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on twin disc sea keeper gyro stabiliser systems along with some work on Quick Gyro and stabilizer systems
  • Out of water works including, running gear removal and installation, shaft seal service and replacement and through hull fittings.

  • I worked on MY Royale X during my spare weekend as needed
  • My duties on board consisted of following the vessel in the tender, transporting guests/owners to and from the vessel using the tender, assisting with ropes when leaving and arriving at the marina, assisting interior crew wherever I needed, the end of day washdown and much more in between.

Accomplishments

I was honoured to be awarded the Australian Marine Industry Apprentice of the Year Award in 2022.


I flew to Amsterdam with AIMEX and Superyacht Australia to attend the Metstrade show as a prize for the apprentice of the year.


I have completed Multiple successful engine repowers and major engine overhauls on several different types of vessels.

Other Experiences


  • I delivered a 98ft private luxury trawler from Sydney to the Gold Coast followed by a 3-week hard stand period where we re-antifouled and prop sped the vessel, removed both rudders for repairs then reinstalled and installed underwater lighting. I then delivered the vessel from the gold Coast to Port Denarau Fiji.
