• From initial PFS layout design I was the only designer on the project, while solely using Microstation my duties were but not limited too:

Conceptual Mechanical/Piping/Structural design layouts

P&ID drafting

Weekly client meetings and Model reviews

Taking instructions from Engineers

• Later in the second stage of the PFS, I was joined by a Structural designer and a Lead Mechanical designer and my focused was changed to Piping layout design using Microstation & OpenPlant
• Further duties included:

Piping design using OpenPlant

More detailed Model reviews

Mechanical Equipment General Arrangement drawing production

Liaising with CAD Administrators in the Perth office to sort out pipe specs and issues in Openplant

Also at this point I was creating short Constructability sequence video’s and animations using Microstation & Navigator

At present point in the Early Detailed Design phase of the project I am focused on:

Reviewing and re-modeling Vendor data

Detailed Equipment plan drawings

• Designing Underground and Overground HPPE pipelines
• Lead Design of the Tailings Storage Facility piping using HPPE Overground piping and Steel pipe pumping manifolds
• Initial Layout Design of the whole site Underground water reticulation
• Using trenched HPPE piping to run Underground water supply to all Facilities including Fire Protection design
• Using Smartplant 3D and Microstation to Design and Draft Piping GA’s, Piping Details, Standard Piping Details & Pipe Supports and Isometrics
• Liaising with other disciplines and client representatives in layout meetings and design reviews to determine the best possible design
• Backdrafting of P&ID’s and PFD’s using Smartplant P&ID
• MTO and Database manipulation

• Using AutoCAD for backdrafting redlines sent from site
• Spreadsheet metadata and database updating

• Scoping and Performing Hydrostatic and Pneumatic Pipe Tests
• Reading P&ID’s, LTD’s, Isometrics and 3D Models to determine boundary’s and test conditions for piping tests
• Working with piping engineers and craft supervisors to determine readiness and scheduling of tests

• Witnessing tests being conducted
• Using Smartplant Review 3D to extract model shots for craft to locate tests

• Drafting changes to Vehicle Wash P&ID’s, Working with Smartplant P&ID to achieve correct deliverables and reports
• Designing changes to Vehicle Wash 3D Models and the creation of Piping Isometrics

• Helping with finding & locating materials that have been delivered but not yet receipted
• Matching stock codes with that on Engineering Drawings, Locating materials in already installed components, Stock taking

• Drafting P&ID’s and PFD’s, Checking & Rectifying database inconsistencies
