  • I spent a lot of this placement observing and learning what I could from other nurses as well as patients.
  • My second placement was in MDHS Wattle Rise Aged Care and for this placement I was permitted to give out medication while supervised.
  • I was lucky enough to gain a bit of experience in reading medication charts and preparing medications.
  • I learnt about new medications and their connections to diseases.
  • My third placement was in the OPAU psychiatric ward at Bendigo health, this was my mental health placement.
  • On this placement I was allowed to give IM and SC injections while supervised.
  • I often calculated and drew up and administered medications, using my 14 rights.

  • My fourth placement was in the Acute ward at Maryborough hospital, for this placement I was now able to attend to wound care.

  • For each placement I had I was able to strengthen previously learnt skills, take on more responsibility like a larger patient load and more progress notes to write up.
  • I gained quite a bit of experience in administering medications/injections as well as boarder knowledge of what certain medications do, their class and their schedule.
  • Through these placements I have acquired numerous helpful skills that I can use in a clinical setting and everyday life.
