Offering in-depth knowledge of on going learning and research into the body language of animals and trust building in order to better understand and work along side these powerful and talented animals in a welcoming environment that is stress free for all beings involved.

Nothing is better than the feeling of all your hard work paying off as you see the animal come to life before your eyes giving you something so rewarding and breathtaking, their trust and unconditional love when you have learnt it. Just by being kind, patient and caring.

  • Collaborated with other volunteers to create a positive work environment.
  • Participated in team-building exercises to strengthen relationships among volunteers.
  • Provided guidance and support to fellow volunteers during their shifts.
  • Greeted visitors upon arrival at the shelter, helping them with any of their needs or questions within my capability.
  • Followed directions from supervisors and completed tasks within appropriate timeframe.
  • I'm told that i am a talented "worm finder", in reference to mostly working with the litter trays each morning on my shifts, twice a week.
  • Clean out cages eg, defluffing their beds, wiping down the cage, replacing the water and making it comfortable for each cat
  • Work with selling animal (mostly cat) products when needed, seeing to customers when it comes to helping them understand the personality of each cat, giving them a more personal view in order to match them with the right fur baby.
  • Help compile profiles for the cats.
  • Responsible for cat security eg, closing of doors, cages and making sure to break up any unforeseeable fights in a safe manner for all beings involved.

Doggie Distractions Day Care & Grooming

  • Worked with different types of dogs, from small to large
  • Helped to keep them comfortable and silent by reading their body language and applying sound or touch to help relax, distract or correct behaviors.
  • Cleaned up after wees and poos within the allocated areas for small dogs and big dogs
  • Learnt how to get in and out of areas without allowing dogs to escape. Eg - always making sure to close doors when entering new areas and using body to shimmy in when needed.)
  • Learnt about certain dogs with diet issues having to wear a certain coloured collar. Eg - red meaning do not feed treats etc.
  • Got a better understanding of dog behavior up close and personal. Eg - able to read signs of nervousness that may lead to aggression if you don't see the warning signs etc)

Horses Helping Humans

  • Helped with moving the horses from paddock to the round pens and back again
  • Helped with removable and putting on of rugs during colder weathers.
  • Learnt how to clean under hooves (Each horse owner has different teachings and trainings with how they clean hooves. Eg - i learnt with moving hand down the leg till just above the fetlock giving it a squeeze only enough in order for the horse to lift its leg up as trained.)
  • Learnt how best fitted to mix up feed for the horses within work place, changes during the hotter weathers and colder weathers. Eg - more feed or less to keep the horses within a healthy weight.
  • Learnt how to use body language in order to communicate with the horses when doing ground work. Eg - Making them do circles, trotting, running, sudden stops, changing directions, making them back up, come forward etc
  • Learnt how to form a connection with a horse in order to do ground work without any ropes, using purely energy and a guiding hand.
  • And always the fun part of working with animals, Learnt how to clean up horse manure, grooming and washing (to some degree)
