Ministry Philosophy

I am committed to the Westminster Confession of Faith as read in light of the declaratory statement as an exhibition of what is taught in the Word of God. I am committed to the inerrancy of the Word of God. Therefore everything that I do in preaching, teaching, pastoral care, counselling or in matters of discipline must have its foundation in the Word of God. I believe that the Word of God explicitly teaches that there are two offices of the church, elders and deacons. Elders provide the spiritual guidance and teaching for God's people and deacons serve as the charitable arm of the church. Though there are these offices expressly given it is also the work of every Christian to serve and love one another - we are to minister to one another. I am convinced that there is an express concern and explicit instruction for followers of Jesus to know and share the good news of Christ with others and no-one can be excluded from hearing this truth. The work of God's people can be summarized by the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age."

The discipleship of God's people encompasses, the preaching and teaching of God's word through which growth in godliness occurs, positive disciplines of bible study, prayer and encouragement, hospitality, loving one another, the rebuking and correcting of one another and the outward work of evangelism and missions.
