Work History

Teacher - Christian Studies & Visual Arts

Trinity Grammar School
09.2018 - Current
  • My main role has been helping to develop Christian Studies programs, lessons and resources across all year groups, with an additional focus on Years 9 and 10 in my role as Stage 5 coordinator throughout my time at Trinity. (I was also appointed as Acting Head while the Head of Christian Studies was on Long Service Leave.)
  • I have also taught Stage 4 Visual Arts throughout my time at Trinity, developing and implementing several units and projects with my classes.
  • Throughout my time at Trinity, I have been involved in the broader ministry of the school, including leading Bible study lunch groups, attending and assisting with Christian camps (involving both Trinity and Meriden students) and occasionally speaking in Chapel.
  • Throughout my time at Trinity, I have also coached sport (mostly football/soccer), had tutor groups and been involved in the house system.
  • I have taught Stage 4 Technology classes when my assistance has been requested by the TAS department.
  • On occasion, I have assisted the drama department, helping to choreograph the sword fights in Trinity's 'Treasure Island' production a couple of years ago.

Assistant Chaplain & Classroom Teacher

The Scots College
01.2009 - 08.2018
  • My role at Scots was split between school chaplaincy and Christian Studies teaching, and I also taught some Visual Arts classes.
  • My Chaplaincy role involved coordinating chapel each week across the year (including boarders' chapel), preparing and delivering chapel messages, giving devotions at whole-school assemblies, and running Bible study lunch groups.
  • My chaplaincy role also involved coordinating annual events like the Christian camp for Years 7 to 12 students, ministry events for international students, ministry events for staff, and fundraising for Old Boys involved in overseas mission.
  • Throughout my time at Scots, I worked closely with the Head of Christian Studies to develop and implement programs and resources across all year groups.
  • I also taught Visual Arts classes, coached football/soccer, was involved with the house system, had my own tutor groups and was involved with the community service co-curricular group.

Teacher - Technology

Northern Beaches Christian School
04.2002 - 12.2005
  • Aside from having a tutor group and teaching a senior Christian Studies class every year, my role at Northern Beaches Christian School (NBCS) was exclusively TAS teaching.
  • Every year I taught multiple Design and Technology classes across all year groups, including Year 12 HSC. Every year I also taught multiple Industrial Technology Years 9 and 10 classes, which involved designing and implementing my own timber projects.
  • I trained and supervised male and female students to use a range of woodworking tools, including the wood lathe and multiple other power tools.
  • We did not have a workshop assistant, so I would calculate, collect and prepare all project materials myself using the circular saw.
  • I worked with the Head of Department to improve the quality of both the workshop and the design projects. We developed projects over a few years, rather than changing projects every year, as had been done in previous years.
  • Every year, I was delighted to see more and more of my students produce design and timber projects of such high quality they could be displayed in the school's yearly art and design ‘showcase’ exhibition.
