My name is Brielle Saddington, I am 19 years old, have my provisional driver's license and live in quakers hill. I am currently studying a bachelor's degree in primary education and a bachelor of arts at Macquarie university. I achieved my HSC in 2021. I currently work for Northwest community childcare at the before and after school care at Riverbank public School. My interests and hobbies include going to the gym, reading, dance, music and spending time with loved ones.

I have been employed at Riverbank after school care since May 2021. I am currently a level 3 educator which is a role I have earned through achieving expectations and being dedicated to my role and to the children. This role brings many new challenges and responsibilities some in which include, running areas, signing in children, running headcounts, speaking to parents and building positive relationships with both parents and children, training new staff, liaising with team leaders to implement programs and activities for the children. filling out forms such as incident reports, assisting in meal preparation and food handling, behaviour management, effective supervision, cleaning duties and running the inclusion area. I work closely with all of the special needs children who attend Riverbank and continue to help implement routines and strategies for them.

I started volunteering at Mtt Druitt Hospital specifically within the palliative care unit in December 2021 due to a family member working there. I assist in helping organise raffles to help with funds for personal care product for patients, baking for Easter and mothers day and every Christmas I help decorate the unit for the patients and there families.

  • Effective communication skills - Working at Riverbank before and after school care has broadened my social skills and ability to manage interactions with fellow colleagues, parents and also with children and special needs children with limited verbal communication skills. I am required to write legal documents and speak to parents through text, email and verbally.
  • Responsible/Honest and Reliable - As a level 3 educator I am often responsible in running areas and managing my team, additionally I am trusted to make sure all children are signed in correctly and kept safe.
  • Positive attitude/ Eager to learn - overall comments made by colleagues at work consistent of enthusiastic, bubbly, attentive, diligent and conscientious and passionate.
  • Respectful / Polite - When speaking to parents it is always important to stay calm and speak with respect and understanding especially when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Self-Discipline / organisation skills - I would consider my self to be a organised person as I constantly write everything down in my diary especially when in comes to uni assessments. I am always willing and able to do whatever it takes to get a job done.
  • Flexible - on several occasions I have needed to come in for a morning shift last minute or start earlier ot leave later in the afternoon for other colleagues who may be sick or unable to work for personal reasons.
