A highly motivated university creative arts student majoring in visual arts and design with a strong passion for graphic design and textiles. I have experience operating Adobe systems with exceptional design knowledge and professional expertise. I am adept at integrating knowledge of materials, mediums, and art theory in my creative practice and utilising design software to deliver industry-standard content. My current projects emphasise creating a body of work, designing campaigns, branding, illustrations, and social media impact.
The Nguku Water Festival internship would benefit my practice through gaining firsthand experience to research culture, connect with Indigenous communities and highlight the environmental history of Australia over the past 130,000 years. Collaboratively working with indigenous communities, I would gain up-close knowledge on how they celebrate Indigenous culture, while having a greater understanding of place, history, and land. Throughout, my creative arts degree structure it has always been important to highlight the place and land in which we reside on, through the participation of the Internship I could enrich my understanding of place, culture and history and incorporate this understanding to a future visual body of work. Within my discipline I often explored cultural identity as a second-generation migrant. However, I additionally like to investigate the notion of how to reside on Indigenous land as a migrant in a body of work and ensuring Indigenous culture and celebrated and taught thoroughly in current and further generations. With the outreach areas of Tennent Creek, I would gain a new understanding of Indigenous culture using storytelling of place, allowing a greater knowledge of importance of land and history. An additional component of my visual arts investigations is the topic of environmental issues and history and creating works surrounding decline of the environment. However, within this Internship program I will be informed on history of place and environment and create works that explore the theme of Australia’s environmental history and combine the topic with the aspect of land, place, and culture.
