Duties include:
Dismantling and extract Transformer winding details
Rewinding all types of Transformer coils up to 5000KVA
Inspect finished coils for conformance to product specifications
Sealing magnetic coils with epoxy or cement
Transformer testing using ATRT-03 Ratio Testers, IRM500 Winding Resistance meters, WRM-40 Insulation Resistance Testers and recording the results
Coordinates efforts for ordering winding material and setup for new transformers
On site field servicing and maintenance of Power and Distribution transformers
Skills acquired:
Conversant with the principles of Buchholz protection of transformers and associated protection
Proficient in the safety and effective use of elementary oil purifying equipment
Accustomed to heavy duty winding machine operation

ABB BOTTON ARMATURE WINDING

Duties include:
Stripping and recording electric motor winding details
Clean motors by means of pressure washing and sand blasting
Rewind various kinds of electro mechanical equipment including but not limited to single phase motors, three phase stators, DC field coils, Armatures and Wound Rotors
Operate specialised repair and testing equipment including Wire drawing machines, Test panels, Surge testers, Core loss testers, Cut off saws, Burn out ovens, Bake ovens, Grinders, Cranes, Brazing units, VPI systems and various power and non-power tools
Test windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds and short circuits using clearance gauge, growler, spring steel blade and insulation testers
Assist fitters on dismantling and assembling of small motors and pumps
Test run completed motors
All other duties assigned
Skills acquired:
Having good dexterity
Mastery in winding High voltage motors (Hair pin and set diamond windings) up to 11KV while observing proper insulation techniques and requirements during rewinding
Aptness in the safe use and handling of handi-gas and oxy-acetylene equipment for the purpose of soldering and brazing
Proficient in the use of micro meters and feeling gauges for the purpose of ascertaining the air gap of an electrical rotating machine and measuring winding conductors
Resourceful in the manufacture of all types of motor coils in excess of 3.3KV
