Hi, I'm Caeley Ferguson! I'm a 19-year-old student who has recently completed a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE. I pursued this course because of my passion for helping others and my love for meaningful conversations, which have inspired me to become a care worker. I'm excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives and to support them through their journeys. In addition to my studies, I've gained valuable experience working with children in a kindergarten setting and through babysitting. These experiences have helped me develop essential skills such as patience and effective communication, both of which are crucial for my future career as a care worker. Outside of academics and work, I am a devoted sports enthusiast. I play football and netball, and I enjoy spending time with my friends, creating memories, and exploring the great outdoors. My goal is to achieve my dream job in nursing and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I'm eager to continue learning and growing, both personally and professionally, as I work towards this goal.

- During my two-week placement at TLC, I gained invaluable skills in personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming. I learned how to assist with toileting and continence care, as well as mobility and transfers. Additionally, I improved my feeding techniques and developed my ability to actively listen and communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, with clients. I came to appreciate the importance of manual handling and safe lifting techniques, as well as the significance of providing person-centred care. Following care plans and routines was a crucial aspect of my learning experience. I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow during this placement, as it has truly enriched my understanding of providing compassionate care.
