As a Trade Assistant in the workshop at Mineral Resources, I provide crucial support to the fitters and other trades people, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of daily tasks. My key responsibilities include:

• Assisting fitters with the installation, maintenance and repair of road trains
• Preparing and organising materials, tools and parts to ensure fitters had everything they needed for each job
• Maintaining a clean and organised workshop, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations
• Assisting haulage team where needed to ensure smooth operations

Arriving in Perth from New Zealand I started at Australia Post as a Christmas casual and stayed on until getting into FIFO. Some of my duties and skills in this role include:

• Gaining great geographical knowledge of Perth and the surrounding areas
• Working well within a team of people from all different backgrounds and cultures
• Calm under pressure and time restraints
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a labor-intensive environment

I came back from the United Kingdom mid Covid-19 and decided to take on a new opportunity that came my way. Some of the skills I have learnt in Landscape gardening are:

• Knowledge on New Zealand plants
• Planting and nurturing of trees and shrubs
• Pruning and trimming
• Health and safety
• Usage and correct handling of tools/machinery
• Weed control

Wanting to gain some new experiences in the United Kingdom, I worked in the Lock Keeper, a British pub located in the South. During this time, I explored the UK and learned a great deal about myself. Some of these things include:

• I learned the processes involved in opening and closing the bar
• I handled customer enquiries and took bookings
• I tended the bar, serving customers and handling cash
• I waited tables and saw to the service of customers and their food
• Cleaning of bar and restaurant

I had completed one year of an electrical engineering apprenticeship, gaining knowledge in:

• Installing and repairing electrical installations
• Troubleshooting electrical faults and fixture problems
• Learning about system design, installation and code requirements
• Practicing electrical health and safety standards

In this role, I assisted the manager, baker and decorator by serving customers, taking orders and participating in food preparation, this involved:

• Learning how to bake the products that the store sold
• Opening and closing the store
• Handling money and ensuring depositing of profits
• Dealing with customer enquiries and resolving complaints
