Summary

Highly motivated Project geologist with 7 years of experience in gold, nickel, iron ore and Lithium mining. I've spent time working in Underground mining, open pit, and in exploration. I bring a desire to share expertise and contribute to a team to achieve shared goals. In the future I see myself being well networked, approachable, and knowledgeable. To that end I'm excited for new challenges and helping a company evolve and grow.

Work History

Mine Geologist

Zenith/Rio Tinto
05.2024 - Current
  • Responsible for dig block generation, liaising with other departments
  • Enabling skill sharing and commination between different parts of Rio Tinto
  • Entered the company during a restructure and assisting with staff workloads and altering standard practices
  • This Role is a contract role, with a great team and good exposure to the iron ore industry
  • The role is somewhat regimented and guided into non critical thinking tasks - an element I miss from other roles I have performed well in.

Grade Control Campaign Manager

Zenith/Mineral Resources
03.2023 - 05.2024
  • Lead a drilling and grade control campaign for Mount Marion and Onslow projects
  • Managed QAQC and coordinated with onsite drillers and remote labs
  • Mentored technicians and worked with drilling contractors
  • Innovated procedural changes and established standard practices
  • Interpreted drilling results to inform project decisions
  • Adapted quickly to project changes due to lithium price
  • Managed stakeholder communication for pit floor management

Project geologist

First Quantum Metals
12.2021 - 11.2023
  • Promoted in 2022 to Project geologist
  • Responsible for ore block generation, pit mapping, ROM management and drill rig management and hole planning
  • A strong role in safety mentorship amongst drilling contractors and technicians
  • Acting Senior geologist position for 6 months
  • Improving and developing systems
  • Ravensthorpe is a nickel laterite deposit; we move large amounts of BCM's and track the chemistry as best as able to go to the correct finger based on material properties
  • The biggest challenge was delivering optimal product to the Mill and managing all the variables in play (limited space, 11km conveyor belt breakdowns, hazardous material properties)
  • My proudest accomplishment is maintaining geology department capabilities and a good level of moral in a department where I have been involved in the training of many geologists. I made life long friendships here.
  • Mine geologist in Ravensthorpe Nickel mine in Western Australia

Mine Geologist

Northern Star
03.2021 - 12.2021
  • Mine geologist in Carosue Dam Operations gold mine
  • Responsible for sampling faces, backs mapping and drill rig management
  • A key role in safety mentorship amongst contractors, geotechnical hazard reporting, equipment standards and behavior mentorship
  • Mentoring new geologist and graduate geologist
  • Liaising with other departments and off-site contractors on geology team needs

Underground Mine Geologist

Wiluna mining
10.2020 - 03.2021
  • Large stake in database management
  • Liaising with contractors, underground mapping and sampling, overseeing drilling and reporting results
  • Stockpile management and voicing geology team needs
  • Required a lot of testing of resource models in old mine sections
  • Dataset accuracy made for an enjoyable geological challenge
  • Large scale resource interpretation and conversion into leapfrog using all existing and past drilling was one of my proudest projects

Open pit geologist

Wiluna mining
11.2018 - 03.2021
  • Company Overview: Also known as Blackham Resources and Matilda Gold based in Wiluna and approximately 40km South of Kalgoorlie
  • A narrow vein gold mine operation
  • Responsibilities include dig block generation, ore spotting, ROM management, directing field staff, overseeing grade control and managing 2–3 dig fleets over 4–7 pits
  • An absolute pleasure to be challenged on so many levels with a good team
  • Not always easy or harmonious there was a strong pressure placed on results, action, doing the job once and doing it right
  • 3 very different deposit styles over a large tenement package
  • Good communication and cooperation were essential to the success of the operation

Environmental Field Work

Talis Consultants
04.2018 - 11.2018
  • Environmental field work strongly involved with drill rig management
  • Drilling in landfills, water testing wells and geotechnical studies
  • Involved in construction of waste facility cells to contain high level contaminants and reporting
  • Keys to success in this role were good communication and independent critical thinking
  • My greatest lessons in this role was on the political side, one of my assigned jobs had protesters and I unknowingly had an interaction with one of them, I was naive to this scenario focused on doing my job to the best I could. Never loosing that higher sense of awareness of company and team goals was a great lesson.

Geological Field Technician

Gascoyne Resources
01.2018 - 04.2018
  • Involved in gold exploration program at Dalgaranga near Mount Magnet
  • Short term contract with extension offered
  • Responsible for sampling, drill rig management, logging, clearing lines and liaising for exploration needs with relevant parties
  • Great team of people and one of the most enjoyable, if brief jobs I've had.

Geological Pit Technician

Minjar Gold
01.2017 - 07.2017
  • Short term contract extension offered but pit was closing
  • Ore body was defined by BIF units creating a hydrothermal fluid cap rock
  • Responsible for drill rig management, ore spotting, pit mapping, daily reporting and sampling duties
  • Open pit gold mining operation near Southern Cross
