My key responsibilities were booking customers in for consultations, follow-up phone calls with my customers, arranging time slot appointments at the start of the week so I knew when I had availability to book in customers. I previously completed my first working holiday visa in Sydney, where I worked in a bookstore/cafe. My roles included serving, handling money, and cashing up. I created digital advertisements for upcoming events, as well as booking customers for those events. Getting in contact with different authors to come and do book signing and book clubs. I was in charge of ordering and maintaining all stock, buying new books, and sorting out old stock. My main role was rostering our 20 members of staff, as well as checking their weekly hours, and was responsible for payroll.
My responsibilities entailed responding to customer calls and managing bookings for the leisure complex, for example, gym classes, swimming lessons, bowling, and a table at the restaurant. Assisting people with their memberships, canceling memberships, offering detailed information about all our services, prices, policies, etc. Some of my roles included resolving complaints, chasing up late payments on memberships, contacting our customers to ensure issues are resolved, and satisfaction is received. I used a lot of upselling to make sure people that would call to book a class etc knew about our different membership options, also informing customers about upcoming events or exclusive offers. Replying to emails was probably my main priority, also gathering feedback from customers about their experience to help improve services. During this time, I developed strong communication skills and the ability to handle a variety of tasks with ease.
