Currently working as a senior RN in the Day Oncology/Medical Day Only Unit. Duties and responsibilities include:

• The day-to-day running of the unit as team leader.
• Administration and monitored chemotherapy regimens, biotherapy agents, supportive care medications, hydration therapy, and blood products.
• Comprehensive nursing assessment and evidence-based management of cancer agent toxicities.
• Management of hypersensitive reactions.
• Provision of patient education of chemotherapy regimens, making necessary adjustments according to health literacy, etc.
• Escalating care of the deteriorating patient.
• Timely referrals to allied health.
• Coordination with other departments and outside services to arrange imaging, pathology, and medical procedures as required, under the guidance of the treating oncologist.
• Checking, reporting, and treating (when applicable) blood results.
• Ordering chemotherapy, relevant non-chemotherapy agents, and blood products.
• Performing difficult cannulations and troubleshooting CVAD issues
• QARS Audits.
• Assisting in the education and development of junior/agency RNs, as required.
• Assisted in the facilitation of telehealth clinics for oncologists and haematologists including the scheduling follow-up appointments as needed.
• Rebooking patients for their next treatments (where required).
• Regular monitoring personal and generic emails for vital correspondence from specialists, colleagues, and the hospital.

• Successfully fulfilled three contracts, providing high-quality nursing care in rural and regional areas of NSW, including Cobar, Taree, and Broken Hill, within both aged care and day oncology settings.

• Delivered comprehensive and proficient nursing care to oncology patients by conducting thorough assessments and the safe administration of chemotherapy, blood products, and targeted therapies.

• Successfully completed three contracts in regional and remote areas of Queensland, including Cunnamulla, Biloela, and Hervey Bay, encompassing both general medical and oncology specialties.

• Provided care and treatment to the elderly with varying degrees of comorbidities, focusing on quality of life as well as addressing and managing acute medical issues.

• Provided exceptional holistic care to cancer patients over the entire cancer spectrum encompassing both acute oncology/haematology and palliative care .
