Making Transitional Justice Work for Women: Rights, Resilience and Responses to Violence against Women in Northern Uganda, Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo: This project investigates the efficacy of transitional justice for women considering the realities of women’s lives in conflict and post-conflict contexts and their experiences of recurrent violence in northern Uganda, Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo. The research will identify women’s priorities in the transitional justice context and the obstacles that prevent them from accessing justice and human rights. The project will provide an avenue for women’s voices to be heard in the evaluation of existing transitional justice mechanisms and development of alternatives to better meet their justice needs, build resilience and reduce violence against women., This was a collaborative research with Sydney University-and the UTS, As a result provided thought leadership and technical advise to the establishment of the Africa Women Voices For Peace and the growth of the multicountry program on Women Leading peace and Justice in the Great Lakes Region.
