Ingen 3d is a Steel Drafting company who specialises in creating 3D models and 2D drawings for commercial steel projects in Australia. Some projects the company completed include HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment, Marvel Stadium Redevelopment,
Flat level crossing removals, Monash Uni Ted Building and Melbourne Uni Connect Building.
As a Steel Detailing Draftsman for Ingen, I was in charge of creating 3D models using a range of structural and architectural drawings to provide a model which can be used to create shop drawings.
- Create 3D models and 2D shop drawings
- Run Data files ( MDB, XREF, NC, and DXF)
- Create Partlists ( Call up, Material and Bolts )
- Convert Models to specific file formats (DGN, DWG and IFC)
- Run Clash detection and amend collisions
- Write RFI's
- Run QA checks for 3D models
- Issue drawings for approval
- Control a team of detailers to produce 2d drawings on schedule
- Correspond with clients to get RFI's answered
- Train all the new staff on how to use CAD software efficiently

Additional Information
I underwent a training program in the Philippines, at one of Ingen 3D's sub-contractor offices, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the steel drafting industry. During this three-month training period, I was able to hone my skills in Prosteel and acquire a solid foundation in steel drafting.
In addition to my training, I also gained practical experience by working for one month in a steel fabrication shop in Mordialloc. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of the day-to-day processes of steel fabrication and the impact of mistakes in the drafting phase on the cost and delivery timeline of a project.
