Teamleadershipandmanagement

My approach to team leadership and management is to provide the best possible support and professional development opportunities to members of my team. It is important to know my team well, to understanding their strengths and areas they would like to develop further. I ensure my team know my door is always open and maintain strong communication and support, through supervision, debriefing and reflective practice. We work together to strive to deliver best practice and continually improve the quality of our service.

Careerstatement

A strong sense of social justice motivates my work in the social services fields. In order to develop and deliver effective services, it is important to empower, resource and support people who are consumers of these services to achieve their goals and live happy, healthy lives. In order to do this, we need to create opportunities for people to receive the appropriate support. I am a strong believer in peer support, understanding that there is power in peers working together with a shared understanding of their experiences and the possibilities of recovery based on this approach. I also believe that people should have an opportunity to influence decision making processes in services, recognising that people are knowledgeable and resilient and are the experts of their own experiences. My work is underpinned by strengths based, person centered and rights based approaches.
