After closing my business in June 2023, I began working as a freelance hairstylist, focusing on weddings and continuing to serve my existing clients.

This flexible work arrangement has allowed me to explore new opportunities beyond hairdressing and prepare for my next career move.

In January 2012, I opened Blaq Hair & Beauty alongside my business partners, Rob and Kelly.

Over the years, I built a large and loyal clientele, which enabled us to grow the business and support a team of 10 stylists. I was responsible for hiring and training new staff and successfully mentored several junior stylists through their apprenticeships.

I also managed the day-to-day operations of the salon, including overseeing the appointment schedule to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity for the entire team.

After nearly a decade in business, we made the decision not to renew our lease and to close the salon due to the ongoing challenges and pressures brought on by the COVID-19 lockdown.

During my time at Luton Properties, I was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the office. My duties included maintaining a clean and organized workspace, managing office supplies and stationery inventory and providing front-desk support by greeting clients, answering phones, and directing inquiries or taking messages for agents and property managers.

I handled rent payments and assisted in listing properties on key real estate platforms such as Allhomes, Domain, realestate.com and the Luton Properties website. Additionally, I prepared floor plans and coordinated marketing materials to support open homes and auctions.

I worked for Luton properties while I was building and preparing to open my salon, but along the way, I found myself really enjoying the career change. What started as a temporary step turned into something I very much enjoyed and would love to continue now that I have closed my business.
