International Student Leading Teacher

Achievements:

  • Actively participated in a department-led delegation of Victorian government schools to raise brand awareness, build reputation and promote school-to-tertiary study pathways for Korean and Japanese students graduating with a Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE).
  • Positively represented Essendon Keilor College and Victorian Schools brand in international student recruitment exhibitions in Seoul and Tokyo, in conjunction with Austrade, the Victorian Government Trade and Investment Office and department-accredited education agencies to recruit full-fee paying international students into Victorian government schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the International Student Program, overseeing two administration and six teaching staff.
  • Interview and assess the suitability of prospective new students; process enrolments and transfers; subject change guidance; course progress support and intervention strategies; oversee assessment and reporting; and collate all data to ensure ESOS and DE ISP compliance.
  • Assist in the promotion and marketing of the international student program by preparing, reviewing and editing all promotional and marketing material, including translated material.
  • Oversee the English Language Centre and Intensive English Language Program, including initial language level testing, progress reporting and management of transition data.

Re-developed and implemented two Intensive English Language Programs (IELPs) that consolidate and extend English language and learning skills to support 30 newly-arrived international students to access the wider curriculum and transition into mainstream classes.

  • To develop, evaluate and review the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) curriculum.
  • Collaboration with teachers to develop the curriculum outline, including researching new materials.
