  • Provided effective individual and group early intervention services using the Early Start Denver Model approach, working in a key worker role within a multidisciplinary team, to support best outcomes for children and their families. I additionally provided individual Occupational Therapy services to children between ages of 3 and 14. Caseload was predominantly in area of Autism, ADHD and behaviour support.
  • Administered and completed a range of standardized and informal assessments to support therapy planning and provision that aligned with clients goals and strengths. I am experienced and confident completing the Sensory Profile, Movement Assessment Battery for Children (Movement ABC), Miller Function and Participation Scale (M-FUN), Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale and Early Start Denver Model Checklist
  • Effective development and provision of fun, motivating, flexible and family centred therapy to clients across their natural environments (school and home) as well as clinic setting. Involved resource development and to ensure therapy was motivating and individualised to client goals and strengths
  • Key worker within Early Start Denver Model program included being the key point of contact for families in the intensive early intervention program, writing and ongoing review of termly child and family goals, liaising with key stakeholders (parents, teachers, child care educators) as well as working closely within a multidisciplinary team (Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Early Childhood Educators) to work towards best outcomes for children and their families
  • Daily provision of therapy based on Early Start Denver Model approach in intensive setting. Therapy was provided in both community and clinic environment. Included providing one to one therapy as well as therapy in a group setting to support children in working towards individualised goals, utilising a naturalistic developmental behavioural intervention approach
  • Effective Planning, co-ordination and provision of termly social skills group that were run within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Confident and experienced in completing and writing excellent NDIS access and review reports. Confident in supporting families with NDIS processes
  • Excellent time management skills, supported completion of daily documentation and progress notes, therapy planning, admin and calender management (with use of Cliniko software) in a timely manner

University Placement - Cancer Ward

  • Placement Goal: To develop core clinical skills working in acute setting and manage up to 80% of supervisor’s caseload independently by end of eight week placement
  • Responsibilities: Prioritising daily case load, independently completing relevant assessments such as initial and functional assessments, liaising within a multidisciplinary team, collecting collateral from family members/relatives and safe discharge planning

University Placement - Paediatrics

  • Placement Goal: Project based placement in corporate office, with goal of exploring the potential for development of therapy service that could be provided by the organisation in Outside of School Hours Care Environment (OSHC).
  • Responsibilities: Extensive research into OSHC governance, operating models and legal requirements, collaboration and information gathering from key stakeholders, development of potential therapy service offers and creating a detailed document outlining the findings and subsequent recommendations after critical analysis of information. Attended five clinical days at Stirling Speech and Allied Health, where I co-facilitated Early Start Denver Model therapy groups.

University Placement - Paediatrics

  • Placement Goal: To work alongside Paediatric Occupational Therapists and gain experience and skills in the area of development Paediatric Occupational Therapy.
  • Responsibilities: Work as a co-therapist, assisting the therapists to run both group and individual intervention sessions. I planned and ran intervention sessions with both groups and individuals. Complete accurate documentation and progress reports for clients.

University Placement - Residential Aged Care

Birralee Residential Aged Care Facility
  • Placement Goal: To observe and interact with residents and understand the role of an Occupational Therapist in the aged care setting.
  • Responsibilities: Running daily activities with the therapy assistants, planning and organising activities for the residents as well as observing and having the opportunity to complete Occupational Therapy Assessments. Ran and observed therapy sessions in the transitional care ward for clients with Dementia. Planning and implementing intervention for a selected client after information gathering.

University Placement - Paediatrics

Connolly Primary School
  • Placement Goal: To observe and identify children with areas of delayed development. After five placement days of observation and assessment, I was required to plan and conduct four intervention sessions that targeted identified areas of developmental delay.
  • Responsibilities: Assisting teacher and education assistant in running activities with children throughout the day. These activities included arts and craft, play and other early childhood learning activities. After observation of a child with potential developmental delay, I designed, implemented, and reflected on five sessions of interventions based on identified goals.
