  • Delineation of blast patterns using appropriate barricading and signage.
  • Explosive management and compliance with Australian Blasting Rules and Regulations ensuring the safety of themselves and others when handling or using explosives and their ingredients.
  • Priming holes with correct usage and manual handling of Non-El and Electronic detonator and booster systems.
  • Charging/Loading bulk explosives to correct stem height as specified on blast proposal - Emulsion (1" hose) Correct loading procedures of wet and dry holes.
  • Stem height adjustments when loading in-fill holes and wall control areas (Batter and buffer holes).
  • Hose assistant.
  • Anfo (Orga) Loading to correct stem height.
  • Spotting and positioning MMU truck on the pattern accordingly.
  • Stem heights measured pre and post-gassing of bulk explosive.
  • Spotting stemming loader.
  • Tie-in shot in accordance with tie-in plan by reading and following map provided. Surface detonators (CD's) and Electronic.
  • Walking and inspecting the shot prior to blast.
  • Housekeeping of shot.
  • Off siding Shotfirer in charge - Magazine access assisting Shotfirer with collection and transfer of stock in/ out.
  • All signage displayed on Explosive vehicle transporting product.
  • Explosive's order delivery to magazines.
  • Rotation of stock, stacked and stored in compliance with the requirements of Australian Standard -AS2187.1 displaying necessary signage on Bomb Ute.
  • Laying (throwing) out required explosives (i.e down hole, C.D's) on floor adjacent to holes.
  • Assist in connecting the shot prior to blasting and post blast clearance.
  • Pre-Split - Prepping and loading holes using Orica 'Senatel Powersplit' explosives (Sausages).
  • Tie-in shot using cord (control and back-up line)and attaching each hole with a double or triple-hitched clove knot.
  • MSC's applied and tied in correctly.
