Macmahon took me on as a Heavy Diesel Apprentice in 2019. I was exposed within those 4 years to component rebuilds in engines, transmissions, cylinders, final drives, pumps, torque converters and differentials. I also had exposure to machine rebuilds, stripping it down to the chassis and building it back up. After those 2 years in the Perth workshop i was sent to Mount Morgans for demobilization which gave me one on one experience with machine breakdowns. I was then sent to King of the Hill which exposed me to more breakdowns as well as numerous amounts of servicing work on a range of equipment. This helped me identify many faults on the machine and fixing them to prevent future breakdowns. I was then sent to Warawoona in marble bar where i did a majority of component change outs. I decided my heart lied in major machine repairs and headed back to the Perth workshop where i spent the remainder of my apprenticeship working on underground and surface machinery taking on midlife repairs.
