I have completed a Certificate IV and Diploma in Community Services and I am determined to apply learnt qualifications and skills into my chosen field. I completed my HSC in 2019 and immediately set a goal to upskill and prepare myself for a career to work. I have experience working within the Disability, Mental Health and currently Education sectors. Working these roles I have attained extensive experience advocating for social and economic well-being of individuals and families. Skilled at providing guidance, support and assistance. Strong communication and management skills and committed to help resolve challenges. My aim is to continue developing my skills as a professional and prepare to accommodate future opportunities
Within my current role I provide support for students with diverse learning needs and other learning environments with direction of the classroom teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. I am assigned to one class which has greatly benefited my understanding of students different learning abilities and tailor my support approach to achieve the best results. Further duties in my role is to administrate medication, scribe for exams for students that have difficulty reading/writing. This role has furthered my communication skills as it's a major aspect to providing the best support, working as a team, technology skills and mandatory reporting.
The Mental Health Support Worker role closely liaised with Case Managers to provide direct, practical supports to clients that enabled them to address their mental health issues, achieve their recovery goals, maintain successful tenancies and participate within the community. My role also consisted of working with clients to build and maintain self-management skills with nurture and natural supports. I was able to develop and strengthen skills whilst in the role including networking with internal and external stakeholders, furthering knowledge about mental illness, working as a team and report writing.
This role included providing assistance in daily living activities by showering, house hold tasks, attending appointments, drove clients safely to social activities and advocate for clients during appointments. During this time I was able to demonstrate my learned skills and knowledge from my education such as effective communication skills, ability to coordinate and plan, mandatory report and gain knowledge within the disability sector.
