Chizuru Yamanaka

I volunteered under Miss Jess Takeda, a Master's student in Marine Biology at the University of Western Australia, assisting with her research on flatback turtles. This study utilized solar-powered towers with cameras to monitor turtle nesting and hatchling behavior over five months.

My Responsibilities included:

• Identifying and recording predator species
• Monitoring hatchling emergence times
• Noting predation incidents by animals such as seagulls and bandicoots

-Research aimed to understand nesting success rates and hatchling survival against on-shore predation

· Served food and drinks to customers

· Took customer orders

· Cleaned dishes and seating area

I was working with Thomas Crutchett, who is one of the PhD candidates at the University of Western Australia, and focusing on the presence of plastic pollution in the swan canning estuary.

• Samplings were made, such as rope, considering the plastic condition, thickness, and color.

• Keeping research materials organized and maintaining a clean workspace to boost productivity.

· Taught English and mathematics to junior high school students

· Taught calligraphy to elementary school students and junior high school students

· Sold books to customers (This shop is not only a learning school but also a bookstore)

· Served food and drinks to customers

· Took customer orders

· Cleaned dishes and seating area

· Conducted cash transactions
