I am highly motivated, enthusiastic, and hard-working professional with a seven-year background as an M&E Project Engineer/Construction Manager. My career trajectory is aimed at transitioning into a Project Management role. Additionally, I bring five years of experience as a qualified Electrician.
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to some of London’s most significant construction projects. My expertise lies in Electrical and Mechanical installations, where I ensure that all work is executed by specialist trades and subcontractors to the highest standards and in a professional manner. Having worked extensively with various Electrical and Mechanical systems, I possess a broad knowledge and understanding of these domains.
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve contributed to a diverse range of projects. These include major infrastructure endeavors such as Network Rail, Cross Rail, and the London Underground. Additionally, I’ve been involved in significant upgrades like the Euro Star Depot and the London Energy project.
Beyond the realm of large-scale projects, I’ve gained exposure to various other contexts. These include residential construction, hotel refurbishments, healthcare facilities, Category A and Category B fit-outs, as well as shell and core fit-outs. The contract values for these endeavors span a wide range, from £0.5 million to £25 million.
These experiences have enriched my understanding of the industry and allowed me to contribute effectively across different domains.
As I made my transition from an Electrician to Project Engineer, I worked in the following departments for several months to gain knowledge and understanding. These departments were:
· HR Human resource. I was undertaking responsibilities such as recruiting, interviewing, and training for all staff members on site.
· Company Account’s. During the time in the accounts department, I was chasing sub-contractors’ payments and cross checking from the quantity surveyors forecasted sales for the month to make sure the project will make monthly percentages. I was also involved in the certification of payment for staff on a certain number of jobs.
· Purchasing department. The role I was undertaking within the purchasing department was to gather material request from site teams and send them to selected suppliers for quotations. Once the quotations were received, I was to make any cost savings where possible to enable the sites teams to save where possible.
· Design Department. My role in the design department was to assist the lead designer designing the Acton train modification unit. My background of the electrical installation came in very useful during the time in the design department. I gained vital knowledge of how projects are designed to be installed against how they are installed.
· Estimating department. My final department was estimating. Within this department I would assist the lead estimator undertaking take off’ s for a number of tenders which Emico had lined up. This allowed me to have a view of how projects are won during the tender stage.
Having completed the above sectors in head office working with different department’s understanding how they worked I was then assigned to a project to work with different members of the team. My first department quantity surveyor on the projects undertaking a number of different activities during the construction of the job. These activities involved the following:
o Drafting notice of compensation events to clients & Sub-contractors
o Drafting Early warning notices to clients & Sub-contractors
o Monthly project payment applications to the client
o Assessing Sub-contractor’s monthly payment application to Emico
o Internal company accruals
o Monthly internal commercial project review
o Take offs on additional works on site
o Approving site operatives time sheets against hours worked
