- Working on Komatsu and Hitachi Fleet:
- Do preventative maintenance on all electrical and mechanical components on the haul truck
- Taking of downloads (Siemens for Komatsu and AC-Drive for Hitachi) and analyzing the downloads to see where any faults may occur that will cause unplanned standing time
- Doing planned services on both Komatsu and Hitachi haul trucks:
- This includes changing of oils and oil filters as per OEM manuals and schedules
- Checking for any hot connections or damaged harnesses, loose or sagging wires
- It also include greasing of bearings on all electrical motors and prop shafts
- Priming of pumps (vane, gear and piston) also must be done when change of oil takes place
- Charging off the high pressure accumulators for the braking and steering systems by the use of nitrogen gas
- Measuring and replacement of service and park brakes on the machines is also done
- Changing of electrical carbon brushes on the trucks main alternator
- Inspection on the main alternator slip rings
- Inspecting all lights on the truck to insure visibility
- Doing ground fault test on the machines
- Inspecting of the auto lubrication grease system and setting grease injectors if necessary
- Testing of batteries and 24V alternators
- Doing unplanned breakdowns on both Komatsu and Hitachi haul trucks:
- This can include doing fault finding on electrical components, examples can be, finding that a electrical motor is testing down to earth, inverters that has short circuited, something simple like a blown fuse, contactors that is not functioning correctly because of dust or external factors, contactor tips that is worn out causing unwanted faults
- Doing fault finding on mechanical component, examples can be, a hydraulic pump that is bypassing, a cartridge on a mechanical valve that is sticky and not able to open and close as it should, testing of pressures is also required to see if the component is functioning correctly, sometimes we are required to change big components (engines, wheel motors, main alternators, suspensions), replacement of seized bearings, alignment of couplings, doing vibration tests on all moving components
