Work History

Senior Manager

Ernst & Young
03.2014 - Current

Associate / Senior Associate (2014 - 2021)

  • Strong industry focus on construction / percentage completion engagements (including the audits of McConnell Dowell and Bombardier Transportation, who were each subsidiary to listed entities and globally significant audits to EY), and with multiple reporting locations supporting our opinion.
  • Also serviced not-for-profit sector (including Oxfam, St Vincent Hospital, Melbourne Health Hospital, Housing Choices), manufacturing clients (Isuzu, PACCAR / Kenworth Trucks, Sipcam, ANCA) along with other industries (clients such as Ticketmaster and MacMillan Publishers)
  • McConnell Dowell (Group Accounts + 2x Statutory Opinions Accounts) and Bombardier Transportation (Group Accounts + 5x Statutory Accounts).
  • Worked through material litigations; modification of material contracts; first time implementation of IFRS 15 Revenue & IFRS 16 Leases standards
  • The strength of her performance on servicing these clients resulted in Christine being sought by EY to become the lead senior on the BHP account, once this was won in 2020 (which is the largest audit client for EY in Australia).
  • BHP's first year audit was successfully delivered in a remote setting in 2020, and Christine was subsequently promoted to Manager effective 2021.

Manager (2021 - 2023)

  • During her years as manager, Christine continued to service BHP as her key client (and the associated 7x statutory audits conducted locally). In addition to this, she serviced clients including:
  • Breast Cancer Network (not-for-profit, with end-to-end involvement including the reporting to the Board and attending the final Board meeting);
  • AMP Clean Energy (energy sector), from the construction of the solar farms, to their operation and sale of energy to the market under a PPA;
  • Ventair (fans wholesaler) reporting to listed company in UK
  • Zendesk (technology company), previously listed company, and assisted in the year of de-recognition from the NYSE (including modification of share-based payments from equity-settled to cash-settled under IFRS)
  • Participated in tenders and cost budgets for new clients (under fixed price engagements) for Ausnet (energy sector), MRPV (construction) and Hassle (architecture) - of which we secured 2 of 3, and become profitable engagements.

Senior Manager (2023 - current)

  • In addition to other clients noted above - for BHP, Christine: supports executive group over the overall direction and execution of the group engagement (managing over >25,000 hours in time, across >20 team members in Melbourne and more teams globally).
  • Leads the review and delivery over several significant risk / high profile areas of the global audit, including Provision for significant legal claims (Sig Risk & KAM - Reporting direct to Partner); Reserves (Sig Risk & KAM - Reporting direct to Partner); Tax and separate Taxes paid report (Highly complex area - Reporting direct to Partner); oversight of the Perth component team (largest component for the Group, and first point of contact for the interstate team - supporting Partner and Director), testing of SOX controls under US requirements, as well as being responsible for the audit of the Governance Controls under COSO 2013 Framework and Remuneration Report for BHP
  • Responsible for general project management and oversight of the Group audit. Working closely with other executives, this is a significant undertaking given the 25,000 managed in Melbourne. BHP is a highly regulated, high profile audit engagement, consistently subject to multiple layers of review far beyond normal listed clients.
  • Tasked with leading the work on some of the most complex and high profile tasks over recent years, such as the standalone audit of the BHP Petroleum business on sale, and the discontinued operation disclosures for the sale (US$22B proceeds, US$9B gain on sale), and the acquisition of Oz Minerals ($9B) in 2023 (with SOX certification from 2024).
