Volunteer Experience

NSW Rural Fire Service – Cottage Point Brigade, 2012, Present, President, Senior Deputy Captain & Community Safety Officer, Awarded the NSW Premier's Bushfire Emergency Citation. Heavily involved in the 2019 – 2020 fires. As President of the brigade, it is my responsibility to lead all administrative and day to day running of the brigade. This role is a large responsibility, whereby I liaise with both the brigade and external parties including community members, paid staff of the NSWRFS and volunteer members to allow the continuation of a functional fire brigade. Duties include conducting Hazard Reduction Burns, responding to pager calls to incidents including Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), Bushfire and house fires. Administration roles include maintenance of brigade register and books, maintenance of and editing of the brigade constitution and rules to ensure they comply with NSW RFS SOP’s, training fellow brigade members, organising brigade fundraising events, attending local government functions, and liaising with the local community and Community Fire Unit in regard to fire safety, fire preparedness and evacuation procedures in the case of an imminent fire threat.
