I’m soon to graduate from the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University. I have gained experience in paediatric, acute, sub-acute and outpatient hand therapy settings. I’m looking to apply the knowledge and skills learned throughout my course and placement work experience as an allied health assistant in a paediatric setting.

  • Assisted clients in the community to overcome barriers in occupational performance regarding their self-care, domestic, community and leisure occupations.
  • Developed rapport with clients and families through on-site appointments, Telehealth sessions and home visits.
  • Collaborated with an interdisciplinary team, which includes Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, a Social Worker, a Clinical Psychologist and a Neuropsychologist.
  • Participated in weekly case conferences to discuss clients' goals, progress and interventions that were beneficial to the team.
  • Administered Occupational Therapy Initial Assessment, which gathered information such as pre-morbid occupational performance, current cognition, upper limb mobility, functional mobility, functional transfers (on and off the bed, shower and toilet), vision and neglect.
  • Provided recommendations on upper limb exercise programs and promoted practice within functional tasks in the community, kitchen, bathroom and living room.
  • Suggested assistive equipment that improves clients' independence and safety, as well as occupational participation and engagement.
  • Created visual aids (weekly schedule, reminder checklists and orientation signs) as a compensatory strategy for clients experiencing reduced short-term memory and orientation.
  • Used energy conservation and routine building strategies to optimize clients' participation in daily activities.
  • Lead gaming groups as an interactive and relaxed form of therapy in the hospital community centre. Robotic arms, music of clients' preferences (distraction strategy for people with functional neurological disorder), memory card games and motion sensors were commonly used treatments.
  • Worked with interpreters to ensure clients' understanding of assessment instructions and adherence to intervention strategies.

  • Conducted research on the effectiveness of pre-admission information pack prior to total hip joint replacements.

  • Implemented the project plan and adhered to timeframes for project objectives.
