  • My role within this store was a retail assistant
  • I helped maintain and manage the front desk, help customers and keep the store tidy
  • Within this I was trained in the Position Of Service (POS) system Advance Retail, EFTPOS and completed courses in Work Health Safety
  • With this training I was able to efficiently work the program and deliver results to customers
  • This program involved setting up memberships, checking and placing orders with different suppliers as well as identifying and purchasing books
  • Outside of this, I helped maintain the books and displays of merchandise within the store
  • This involves quickly identifying where a book needs to go and categorising it accordingly
  • Furthermore, I helped clean the store to help maintain its professional standards
  • A part of this includes being observant, as it is store policy to greet and help all of our customers that come through our doors
  • I maintained a friendly and cheery disposition in order to help deliver good customer service.

  • This role included being trained in the use of the program Sentral, filing and taking phone calls
  • During my time there I built on my skills working within a team and also developed further my individual initiative
  • I signed students in and out of school and did the filing for students and for out of school events
  • This involved learning new processes such as applying for new, or altered files which became a testament to my ability to learn quickly
  • Occasionally I would need to manage the front desk, wherein I would assist anyone who came in, or would redirect them to someone with greater expertise within the educational field.

  • It still functions as a general store and post office
  • My role in this job is to manage the premise, its sales and customers
  • Due to its unique nature, I am often the only person on premises, which means I have responsibility for all the store's operations
  • My role is to open up the shop at the start of the day, disarming the security alarm, and then closing it and setting the alarm
  • This encompasses handling money and the till
  • I prepare and serve both hot drinks and food and clean up afterwards
  • I do odd jobs around the shop if the owner requires me to do so
  • I also check if anything needs cleaning or organising, for example, sorting out and identifying mail, writing down the ID numbers and the recipient names are just some of the jobs this entails
  • I report to the business’s owner Kevin Jeffery, who manages the employees, stock and money.
