During my time working,I’ve gained confidence in myself as-well as working with others, I’ve gained knowledge and proven to myself and others what it takes to be successful in the agricultural industry and outside in other work fields aswell. and therefore have mastered a handful of skills such as working well under pressure and in extreme environments, being able to adapt to my surroundings and learning fast by paying attention to detail. As a station hand, this is by far the biggest achievement and dream I’ve accomplished and I’d like to explore more work in similar areas.
As a jillaroo at swans lagoon, I had the amazing role of performing tasks on a beef cattle farm such as feeding, mustering, moving and assisting with animal husbandry. Most of my time included being on horse back or a motorbike. I also carried out various roles such as yard work, cleaning troughs, molasses runs, fencing, water runs, lick runs, general maintenance of machinery and fixing minor issues throughout the station. I also had the amazing opportunity to be a carer for unfortunate calfs who needed tender, loving care.
At Somerset dam, I cleaned holiday resorts before and after customers had spent their holidays. My role would include setting up the storage trolley with the essentials, cleaning bathrooms and restoring products, cleaning kitchens, vacuuming and mopping, and restocking shelves with fresh sheets ready for the next jobs.
At this job, I played the role in feeding, grooming, medicating and maintaining the general health and requirements for dogs. It was my purpose to make sure they had access to clean water, clean environments, meals twice a day with medication if needed and outside time.
