Weekend Job
I was involved in project work for RUS Mining in 2015, My job was primarly repair of tungston carbide cutting heads used in underground coal mining. my job was to remove the worn tungsten using carbon arc gouging and prep the surface ready for the friction welding process of the new tungsten carbide surfaces on the drilling heads. During my time at RUS Mining I was fully compliant with all the safety procedures and with the WHS ACT , Regulations & Code of Practice.

I commenced an apprenticeship at D & S Fabrications as a Apprentice boilermaker. Veolia Environmental Services took over the company a few months later and my apprenticeship was transferred to Veolia.
My duties as a boilermaker included construction and fabrication of industrial components, repairs and maintenance of spindles, shears, cutting heads, flux core welding, repair of smelting pot shells, plant shutdowns, hard facing buckets and blades, General site maintenance and basic fitting jobs such as replacing rubber hoses, seals, gaskets, and oil filters on various plant, pumps and valves at the Tomago Aluminum Site.
The company was also involved and manufacturing of industrial equipment, primarily for Tomago Aluminum, as well as work for Steggles, Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group and Hunter Water.
I was heavily involved in the maintenance and the repair of heavy plant equipment and site installations of new components, primarily at the TAC site.
I was actively involved in the WHS safety committee at the workplace, representing the younger employees and encouraging a new safety culture as well as bringing new ideas to the senior employees.
