Manager
North West Hydraulic Solutions Pty Ltd (Enzed Gunnedah)
01.2014 - 01.2015
Utilizing the developed skills and understanding of the previous business this transition was the opportunity to further develop my understanding of hydraulics and was delivered to clients quite smoothly with already developed relationships within the mining, earthmoving, agriculture, transport and manufacturing sectors of my region.
Enzed Gunnedah operated as an independent franchise of the world class hydraulic brand Parker Hannifin. Exposure to this industry gave me the experience to get a more thorough understanding of hydraulic hose manufacture, system design and hands on fabrication and assembly skills.
This business also gave me an opportunity to expand on my abilities and gave me more insight and understanding of international logistics as well as the use of JDE systems for mass inventory. Previous experience with JDE was for mining asset management and smaller inventory lines limited to each site and location specifically.
Manager
Sparkair Mining Services Pty Ltd
01.2008 - 01.2014
Initially starting by myself as a contractor providing auto electrical and air conditioning services to the mining industry, an opportunity for expansion was quickly identified and capitalised on. This business was one of great diversity and required the ability to be highly adaptable in a quickly evolving marketplace in excess of 50 employees.
- Identify/ create various roles that would be advantageous to customers and market them to prospective clients. Train and deliver suitable personnel to perform these tasks to a high enough standard that the employee would be a permanent forecastable revenue stream.
- Negotiate with key decision making personnel to utilise the businesses for services more than just labour. This eventually leading to the management of subcontractors, spare parts and various other resources.
- Negotiate with key suppliers to deliver their products at a reduced rate relative to our consumption that would therefore reduce our operating cost and maximise our profit margins. Liaise with new suppliers of alternative products as well as potential new product lines, service sub-contractors and key personnel to add to our growing service range.
- Develop and create HSE policies relevant directly relevant to the business and its employees, roles performed and services provided to any and all clients. Employees would be familiar with and trained so that when and where required, these documents would be kept on file and ready to be provided at short notice. Also leading to a safety record of no workplace injuries (LTI – Lost time injury) in 6 years.
- Lead and develop employee teams in a positive and pro-active environment to provide services tailored to clients that not only matched their specifications but exceeded their expectations. Develop internal personnel to manage smaller teams inside the organisation that could not only understand the tasks, but could perform them in real time as well.
- Create and design all marketing logos and documents that propelled us into a standard of corporate identity. Accurately time and manage marketing contractors (printers and digital media professionals etc...) to ensure materials were delivered within the same projected time frames that allowed a wave of branding to take place.
- Create and manage budgets and financial forecasts within the organisation that would allow for continued growth and keep the business in front of its competitors.
- Comprehensively understand accounts payable and receivable as well as payroll to allow not only the ability to perform the task, but train personnel.
- Develop a culture within the organisation that made it a great place to be a part of. Through positive leadership and the ability to understand and nurture employees we were able realise their potential and maximise their organisational value.
- Forecast, plan and execute servicing and repairs of fleets exceeding 100 machines at any given time. To monitor and repair defects, service and overhaul equipment as and when required. To deliver subcontract repairs to a level that matched our own standards.
- Inspect machines for purchase/ sale and provide cost analysis to justify procurement or release of an asset.
- Identify requirements, forecast, plan and execute on site workshops and field service units to areas that would not normally have these services on offer. Deliver these assets to financially viable locations and ensure personnel and services meet or exceed requirements of clients utilising them.
- Forecast and plan maintenance costs, tasks and life expectancies of components and services relative to specific environments including open cut coal mining, concrete moulding factories, food processing factories, large scale engineering factories, workshops and mills.
- Construct and deliver accurately costed Tenders, Quotes and relative documents ensuring all loopholes are identified and factored.
- Perform front of house customer sales, handling enquiries and delivering appropriate advice and real time solutions for a wide variety of customer requests.
- Develop employment agreements that exceeded industry standards as well provided completely transparent guidelines for employees to understand and uphold.
