1. Experience in respectful relationships, consent, wellbeing or youth education
I am a qualified primary school teacher with direct experience delivering wellbeing, respectful relationships and personal safety education within a school setting. As a classroom teacher, I have delivered the NSW Education Department’s PDHPE Child Protection units, throughout Early Stage 1 to Stage 3 content, including Keeping Myself Safe, Staying Safe, My Right to be Safe, and Safe and Unsafe Relationships. In my previous role as a Learning Support Teacher, I implemented and facilitated age-appropriate learning programs such as Seasons for Growth that supported students to develop respectful behaviours, foster emotional intelligence and nurture understanding of the huge importance of personal boundaries. I approach this work using trauma-informed and inclusive practices, ensuring students feel safe, supported and empowered to engage with sensitive topics.
2. Demonstrated experience in partnerships management, stakeholder engagement, education consulting, or program delivery
My role requires consistent collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, carers, school leadership team, wellbeing teams and external professionals such as therapists and speech pathologists. I work in consultation with colleagues to plan, adapt and deliver learning programs that meet identified needs and align with whole-school priorities. As a classroom teacher, I have consulted with teachers in my Stage team to plan and deliver programs that align directly to the NSW Australian curriculum, targeting the Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, and Personal Development, Health and Safety. This experience closely aligns with education consulting, as I regularly tailor content, advise stakeholders and support implementation to ensure successful outcomes of students.
3. Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching (High School)
I hold a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from the Australian Catholic University, which has provided me with a strong foundation in pedagogy, curriculum design, student development and professional practice within educational settings.
4. Strong knowledge of school and education settings
As a primary school teacher since 2012, I have a comprehensive understanding of school environments, policies, child safety requirements, curriculum frameworks and educator workloads. Over the years I have gathered extensive knowledge through Professional Development through the NSW Education Department’s online portal MyPL. This knowledge allows me to design and deliver programs that are practical, relevant and responsive to the realities of school contexts, while aligning with department expectations.
5. High-level facilitation and presentation skills
I facilitate learning daily with students and regularly engage in professional discussions with colleagues. I am confident leading sessions on sensitive topics, creating inclusive spaces for discussion and adapting my facilitation style to suit different audiences. I am comfortable presenting both in person and using digital presentation tools. For example, when delivering the NSW Education Department’s Child Protection units through the PDHPE syllabus, I taught the units in person to students, using the Smartboard to present visuals through PowerPoint, OneNote to record student responses, and introducing resource cards that students could physically use in circle time to demonstrate their understanding. Through the use of excellent presentation and facilitation skills, students were able to absorb lesson content and apply their knowledge and understanding of personal safety to the real world.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication
My role requires clear, professional and empathetic communication across a range of formats, including lesson materials, reports, emails, presentations and meetings. I communicate complex and sensitive information in an accessible and age-appropriate manner, and I value clarity, accuracy and tone when engaging with diverse audiences. I utilise excellent verbal communication with parents in parent/teacher interviews and when delivering learning content to students in lessons.
7. Proven project management capability with strong attention to timelines and detail
As a Learning Support teacher, I would regularly plan and manage the MultiLit Language Lift program across multiple terms, coordinating curriculum delivery with classroom teachers, documentation of student results and progress to link with assessment and reporting within set timelines. I am highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive in monitoring progress, identifying risks and adjusting plans for my EAL/D students to ensure successful delivery.
8. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and deliver to a high standard
Teaching requires a high level of autonomy, initiative and time management. During a COVID lockdown period in our region, I coordinated and delivered online lessons to students in a timely manner through Microsoft Teams and Zoom. In my daily role, I am skilled at balancing competing priorities, meeting strict deadlines and maintaining consistent quality across all aspects of my work. I take pride in delivering work to a high standard and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.
9. Alignment with the values and sensitivity required in consent and respectful relationships education
My professional practice is grounded in values of respect, inclusion, safety and empowerment. I approach consent and respectful relationships education with care, sensitivity and a strong ethical framework, ensuring content is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and aligned with best practice in youth education.
Through MyPL we have been trained in Child Protection and our roles as mandatory reporters to deal with our response and actions in dealing with sensitive topics when approached by students.
10. An eye for detail with design skills in Canva and PowerPoint
I regularly design engaging teaching and presentation materials using Canva and PowerPoint, ensuring content is visually clear, accessible and professional. I pay close attention to layout, consistency and messaging to enhance engagement and understanding. In my role as Learning Support Teacher, I utilised Canva to present teaching and support material for teachers and parents of students who had additional learning needs such as working memory issues. I regularly use PowerPoint to deliver lesson content in an engaging format for students.
