Courtney Wharton

Courtney is an experienced Coastal Engineer with eight years of professional experience in many aspects of coastal engineering, such as design, modelling, hazard assessments, data analysis and project management. Areas of practice include collection and analysis of coastal data, modelling of coastal processes, structural inspections, concept and detailed design of erosion protection structures, coastal hazard studies, asset custodianship of unique structures including artificial reefs and project management of budgets up to one million dollars. Courtney has worked on several specialised engineering projects, including the concept and initial design of coastal and maritime structures, including seawalls, groynes, artificial headlands and jetties, metocean assessments, beach nourishment campaigns (delivering over 3 million cubic meters of sand to Gold Coast beaches) and initial analysis, post monitoring and asset management of the Palm Beach Artificial Reef Project. Courtney has also worked in both the private and public sectors giving her a holistic view of projects from multiple perspectives and insight into the needs of various stakeholders.
