Michael Harris, Brother, I’m writing to provide a character reference for my brother, Michael Harris, in relation to the charges his pleading guilty to, Home invasion and intentionally cause injury. I understand the seriousness of these offences and I do not intend to minimize or excuse his actions. Michael and I have shared a close relationship throughout our lives. I have witnessed both his strengths and his struggles. While I was in labour with my first born, Michael came home from work early unwell. Later that evening about an hour after I went to the hospital Michael was admitted into emergency for his appendix. Many hours later I had given birth, and not even a minute later Michael rang my mum to ask her if I had the baby. He was discharging himself because his pain had gone. We have always been very in tune with one another. I am aware of Michaels past criminal history and also some of the difficulties he has faced. Our parent’s separation being one of the hardest times, Michaels mental health struggled through this difficulty time with further challenges as time went on. Despite these challenges, I have also seen his capacity for the gentle, kind, fun loving father that will help anyone in need with a strong work ethic. Michael has spoken of counselling since the offences and his intentions of seeking mental health treatment in the future. He has a fulltime position at Ramsdale Wreakers Pakenham. Michael has a very strong support group. Michael rings me weekly and we also write via e-mail a prisoner. I believe that Michael is genuinely remorseful and guttered for his actions and the harm he has caused to the victim in this matter. Thank you for considering this reference. Yours sincerely …………………………… Crystal Harris
