Cover Letter

Dear Ms. Woods, Please accept this letter as an expression of my interest in the Multi-trauma Acting Clinical Nurse position. I am a highly motivated and experienced perioperative registered nurse with a solid foundational background in this department. With experience running the multi-trauma theatre as the Acting Clinical Nurse in the past, I feel I have become a competent and knowledgeable multi-trauma theatre nurse leader. I am capable of providing excellent patient care, staff education and provide a timely response to the constant unpredictability of the multi-trauma theatre setting. I am ready to lead the team in James' absence and ensure the theatre is able to run smoothly despite the constantly changing nature of the multi-trauma speciality by creating a coherent, collaborative and strong communication based team environment.

I have completed my Peak performance and professional development review with a current Staff Developmental Nurse. I have no outstanding learning courses due and have recently done refresher courses in BLS, Safe Handling and PPE sessions.

Selection Criteria: 1. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and experience in the delivery of evidence based nursing care with the practice setting/specialty. As a key part of the multi-trauma team for the past year I have become a competent multi-trauma theatre nurse capable of leading the team in a comprehensive and collaborative approach focusing on essential patient centred care while providing a rapid response to the unpredictable trauma setting. After 7 years rotating through all the specialities that are present at Royal Perth Theatres, I am capable of not just leading the trauma team but educating rotating nurses, medical and nursing students on how to safely manage and provide care to the patients who are brought into the multi-trauma theatre. I am able to provide key evidence based nursing care in the multi trauma theatre setting by providing a strong multidisciplinary theatre team setting with the patients' safety and recovery at the forefront of the team's collaborative focus. By being knowledgeable in how the multi-trauma theatre operates creates a level of expertise in how to safely react to a constantly changing environment with critically unwell patients who require rapid treatment in a short duration of time.

2. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. The multi-trauma theatre can be a fast paced, rapidly changing environment which can lead to communication breakdown in the multidisciplinary team. By being a focused individual able to communicate effectively and clearly between the front desk personnel, surgical doctors, anaesthetic doctors and the theatre nurses I am able to minimise communication errors resulting in a more efficient team environment able to provide rapid life saving treatment in a collaborative manner. By using communication as a key tool I am able to provide high level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to lead the trauma team to function as a strong unit without conflict arising between different members of the multidisciplinary team. Please take a moment to review my attached resume and credentials.

Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Daniel Bird
