I have worked in the rail, mining and NDT industries for the past 15 years. During this time I have had the opportunity to work across multiple geographic locations in a variety of settings and with a diverse collection of people from multiple backgrounds and cultures. I have had the honor of serving as my colleagues WH&S and LLC representative as well as serving on multiple workforce/corporate steering committee's and panels to streamline business processes and modernise practices. I've also had multiple years of experience in supervising work crews and delivering projects.
In this role I am currently a qualified Drivers Assistant and performing these duties for Qube. My duties here include over seeing shunting operations, minor repairs and re-fuelling and provisioning of locomotives, train inspections, safeworking assistance and any other duties as per my qualification and direction of the driver.
My role in this position was managing a work crew to deliver minor maintenance works as well as construction jobs across all rail domains. I was involved in site visits and project planning including acquisition of plant resources and materials as well as development of methodologies to best complete tasks. I was also responsible for fostering relationships with clients and stakeholders and customer service to ensure their needs and expectations were met during this time and with regards to quality control measures.
This role involved supporting heavy plant and rail resurfacing machinery to restore track geometry and design to relevant design drawings and survey, I managed a small crew of support staff to achieve this as well as supporting plant operators where required with breakdowns and repairs for companies like JHG Taylor Rail and ARTC.
Derryville Rail : With Derryville I was back to working more broadly in the rail industry primarily focusing on track certification post track resurfacing and remedial works including turnout renewal and NDT, with supervision of small work crews delivering minor works as per the role of Rail Safety Support Officer.
Bureau Veritas 2019-2020 :
In this period I worked in the NDT industry exclusively and across multiple sectors utilizing Ultrasonics, Magnetic particle and Dye penetrant to test a variety of media including : Rail, turbines, splines, shafts, pressure vessels, mining equipment, loco engine bodies and valves, pipes etc as well as assisting in radiography and laboratory testing of samples.
ARTC 2007-2018:
In this period I was an infrastructure maintainer focusing on repairing defects in track such as broken rails, sleeper renewal, turnout refurbishment aluminothermic welding, Protection Officer duties, track resurfacing, emergency response and repairs, small plant maintenance and supervision of works as well as HR truck driving and stock and inventory management. I was required to utilize and service a wide variety of small plant and tools as well as calibrate specific measuring equipment.
ARTC from approximately 2013 onwards: I transitioned in this period into NDT and track inspection works, prioritizing defects, assessing work management plan including organizing contract work teams and managing shutdown delivery of multi team worksites, delivering safety critical inspections inside compliance windows, work supervision, track patrols including front of engine, calibration of ultrasonic equipment and repairs, on call work including emergency defect repairs as well as work with management to streamline and modernize inspection schedules and best practices.
