  • In January 2014 I was appointed along with my wife as senior leaders of Christies Beach Baptist Church with the specific mandate to help them return to being at the heart of the local community
  • We have almost completed this mission by focussing on two main areas: Ourselves (CBBC) - Teaching and training our church to narrow the gap between what we (the church) say we believe and what is our praxis
  • Changing our policies and practices that might exclude the community we seek to serve
  • Changing/developing our building and infrastructure (website etc) to ensure they communicate welcome and acceptance
  • The Community - Serving through Emergency relief and food assistance
  • Listening to local needs through community forums and meeting with MP's, council and community groups
  • Watching for where the Holy Spirit is already working and joining in with His work
  • Participate in community events and organisations (Domestic Violence, Pride of the South etc)

  • I purchased a small letting agency with 3 staff, managing 100 residential properties in Paisley, growing it to a company with 15 staff, managing 1000 properties across West Scotland
  • During this time I identified and trained managers to run the company giving me the time to pursue my vocation
  • In 2018 we added Castlehead Property Company to the business which is a selling agent in the Glasgow area

  • CGi had church planted in Gawler which had been running for 18 months
  • I was asked to assist the church as leader however on arrival it was clear the church was unviable
  • Under my guidance a decision was taken to close the church and integrate the leaders and the remaining congregation into another local church
  • This process was successfully completed over the following 6 months

  • CGi has 11 churches in 3 nations as well as a church leadership training college and Cherish Uganda (UK), a major HIV project in Uganda
  • CGi is an international movement based in the UK, which oversees and plants churches and Christian ministries around the world

  • Using our training in church leadership my wife and I pioneered a new church in Paisley, Scotland
  • This church experienced steady growth becoming widely accepted in the local community and having many projects including a debt-counselling service and a project working with vulnerable teenagers
  • The church hosted the launch of 'street pastors' in Paisley, a joint initiative with the local council, police, and churches to help diffuse situations, assisting people as they exit pubs and clubs at the weekend
  • Additionally, we identified and trained other leaders who are now leading churches within the CGi movement

Cherish Uganda

  • Cherish was founded in order to help orphans in Uganda who had HIV
  • I was on the board from the conception, helping to write the constitution and acquire land by Lake Victoria in Uganda
  • I was asked to become the executive director of the charity where my main objectives were to set in place strategies that would eventually make the project financially self-sufficient and develop a leadership structure that allowed for the project to be run by local Ugandans
