Performed farm duties and maintenance using multiple types of machinery depending on the task at hand in a busy horse racing yard. All this was learned on the job so my ability to familiarise myself quickly with each individual machine and its functions was paramount to the development of my skills in this fast paced work environment.

Duties included:

• Driving multiple size tractors,

• Harrowing fields and gallops,

• Distributing water with large double axle tankers,

• Stacking pallets of hay safely for storage with JCB teleporter,

• Transportation of hay to and from the yard while towing a low loader trailer by tractor,

• Installing drainage before spreading new material and resurfacing of gallops with front loader and moxy, then regrading with tractor driven harrows and rollers.

• Occasionally as breakdowns or malfunctioning machinery needed to be serviced, repaired or replaced I would write up the necessary report forms for supervisors and mechanics and be on site to assist when needed and also to relay any other hazards or concerns that may arise.

All this was done meticulously to high standards for maximum efficiency and to meet all health and safety protocols.

• Interned for 8 months learning the basics on horse breeding and attending many high end sales,

• Studied veterinary practices and procedures to further develop my learning of the animal and the industry

• Work rider and apprentice,

• Learned my craft and trade in horsemanship,

• Traveled the country attending race meetings with horses and performing all duties involved in preparing the horse for racing and post racing,

• Performed maintenance duties in the yard and tended to the livestock.
