As a labourer for a concrete company, I was responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient worksite to support daily concrete operations. My role involved transporting and organizing tools and materials, assisting with formwork and steel reinforcement setup, and performing demolition and site preparation tasks. I also handled post-pour clean-up, including dismantling and cleaning formwork for reuse, and conducted routine maintenance on tools to ensure their reliability and longevity. By consistently prioritizing precision, safety, and productivity, I contributed to high-quality concrete work that met and often exceeded client expectations.
Participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award equipped me with a range of transferable skills that I apply confidently in the workplace. Through volunteering, physical challenges, skill development, and expedition experiences, I strengthened my communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. The program also taught me how to manage time effectively, stay motivated under pressure, and adapt to new environments—skills that are valuable across any industry and contribute to my growth as a reliable, high-performing employee.
