Served as the field agronomist for a global agricultural development NGO, working across multiple sites throughout Ethiopia.
- Responsible for implementing the organization's agricultural commitments as outlined in project agreements
- Full seasonal planning: overseeing all stages, from plot preparation and cultivation to produce marketing
- Infrastructure installation and maintenance: installing and maintaining fertigation systems, greenhouses, fencing, and drainage, and supervising the construction of 1-hectare nursery
- Stakeholder engagement: conducting daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with various stakeholders, including routine reporting to management
- Coordination and communication: liaising between field labourers, managers, suppliers, local authorities, and technical experts
- Agronomic oversight: performing routine plot inspections, pest control, and ensuring high agronomic standards across all sites under my care
- Problem-solving: addressing agronomic, logistical, and operational challenges as they arose
- Training and education: instructing and mentoring local professionals and farmers on innovative agricultural practices and products
- Showcasing projects: organizing and leading open days for VIP guests on demonstration sites to highlight the benefits for local farmers
- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of local agronomists, engineers, and coordinators
- Primary crops included avocados and ground crops such as tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, garlic, and watermelon
