  • As Statutory Charges Officer I am responsible for the operation and maintenance of Legal Services' Statutory Charge program.
  • I undertake real property documentation preparation including (but not exclusively) Legal Services Statutory Charges, Mortgages, Caveats, and Removal of Charges. Drafting and lodging caveats and mortgages over real property located interstate.
  • Answer all queries regarding statutory charge issues and correspond with clients, solicitors, conveyancers, mortgagee following Power of Sale Transfers and other government departments such as the Attorney General's Department, Sheriff's Office and AFSA in relation to Legal Services Statutory Charge requirements.
  • Negotiate and transfer statutory charges to alternatively Certificates of title in appropriate cases.
  • Liaise with all Legal Services staff regarding procedural and technical aspects of Legal Services' Statutory Charge program.
  • Design, maintain and update Legal Services pro-forma documentation for statutory charges e.g. consent form, factsheet and letter precedents.
  • Make recommendations as to policy and changes to administrative procedures relating to statutory charge, as required.
  • Provide advice to interstate Legal Aid Commission.
  • Training Legal Services staff to use SAILIS and PEXA.
  • Assist and take instructions from Legal Services Family Law solicitors to prepare Caveats, Withdrawal of Caveats and Transfers.
