  • Projects at Ian Moore Architects ranged from small scale commercial fit outs all the way up to multi-storey residential towers.
  • Typical projects involved the design, documentation and supervision of high end private residences from first client meeting through to final occupation. The latest published example can be seen in Houses Magazine - Issue 161 - p106. Credit is at the end of the article.
  • Responsibility for the development of office and documentation manuals, including drafting standards, specification templates, and office manuals. These included composing video tutorials as part of an in office training package for more complex tasks.
  • Standardized documentation procedures across projects, including scripting custom objects within ArchiCAD's native GDL language.
  • Worked closely with multi-disciplinary team to design residential and commercial projects in Sydney, NSW.
  • Researched building codes and requirements and applied to design planning.
  • Created graphic renderings and models using ArchiCAD and Blender.
  • Coordinated all architectural construction documentation and drawings for each phase of the projects.

  • The APA (Architectural Practice Academy) was an initiative of the year of the Built Environment, set up as a joint venture between the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) and the Department of Public Works (DPW).
  • It operated as in independent practice with the DPW and was run by 12 recent graduates under the guidance of a Senior Architect acting as the practice manager and the mentorship of private practitioners.
  • The APA operated as a viable business that was required establish and maintain its own budget and profitability.
  • Projects ranged from Environmental Design Manuals, through Public Housing and into Infrastructure like Aged Care Facilities, Sporting Facilities and Pedestrian Bridges.

  • The University of Queensland's Bachelor of Architecture degree required a working year to gain experience mid program. This position at Ken Down Architects was my year in practice.
